location

The main road leading from the north to the south through the town. In the center, Diagon Alley to the west spans the historic village green . There the church stands on an area that is not fenced in .

history

The sacred building was, according to the Brandenburg State Office of Historic Monuments and Archaeological National Museum built in the 14th century. The Dehio manual is more cautious and says that the building was "essentially probably" built in the 14th century. It justifies its specification by two ogival portals made of field stone . In their investigations, Engeser and Stehr assume a building from the second half of the 13th century on the basis of the square stones. This should have been around 11 meters long and 8.10 meters wide. They also suspect that the first west tower made of split field stones was built in the 14th century . In 1716 the parish extended the hall building to the east and enlarged the windows “baroque”. A new portal was installed on the southern wall of the ship and the original choir was torn down. The structure thus reached a length between 26.05 and 26.30 meters. In 1846 the structure was badly damaged in a fire. Craftsmen then replaced the tower and renewed the church furnishings . In 1998 the parish renovated the tower again, and in 2001 the doors of the south portals.

Building description

View from the west

The church was built mainly from field stones, occasionally also from bricks . In the older construction phase, these are hewn in the lower area and partly layered. In the younger, eastern extension there are only a few layers in the lower area; the lines run above them. The masons often used broken bricks in this area, including roof tiles. It is conceivable that this was also the material from the dismantled choir. For repair work and repairs, e.g. B. on the windows, mostly reddish brick was used. The choir is straight and has not moved in; the eastern wall of the choir closed. The corner stones are partially hewn, in the upper area there are plaster residues .

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On the north side, in the east, there are two large, arched windows, the reveal of which was made of reddish brick. A blocked opening can be seen to the west. In the western area there are two more windows, between them also a clogged opening and a clogged, ogival portal. The southern ship wall is constructed similarly. Here, too, two windows arranged in pairs are built in, with a clogged opening in between. Presumably the church originally had three windows on each side of the nave. Between the two west-facing windows and in the middle there is a gate with a plastered reveal. The ship carries a hipped roof , which with beaver tail covered and eastward hipped is.

The tower takes up the full width of the nave. On the north, west and south sides of the ground floor there is a raised, upright rectangular opening. There is also a gate on the south side; Above it is a brick with the year 1716. On the west wall, large-scale repair work made of brick can be seen at the level of the wall crown . The tower floor extends above this. The west side is made of brick; There are two arched openings arranged one above the other, into each of which two coupled acoustic arcades were built. The north, east and south walls consist of half-timbering with two rectangular sound arcades each on the north and south side and a sound arcade on the east side. Above is a pointed helmet with a tower ball and weather vane and cross.

Furnishing

In addition to a pulpit altar with a polygonal basket, there is a horseshoe gallery with an organ from the mid-19th century. The building has a flat roof inside.
