Evangelical Church of Klietznick

The Klietznick village church is the Protestant church in Klietznick (Saxony-Anhalt).

history

The church dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. It is divided into the nave from the Romanesque period , the early Gothic west transverse tower and the late Gothic chancel . The entire building was built from bricks, with the sanctuary resting on a field stone foundation. The church got its current shape with the three-sided chancel built in the 15th century. However, the tower had a half-timbered upper floor until 1859, which was replaced by a transverse gable roof after a fire. In the western part, the nave is decorated with the German ribbon and with diamond and console friezes . Inside, the nave and the chancel are separated by a so-called triumphal arch , the 14.60 × 6.55 meter large nave has a flat ceiling. A gallery in baroque forms was attached to the west wall . The chalice-shaped baptismal font made of sandstone dates from the late Romanesque period. The multi-sided wooden pulpit with its turned corner pillars, resting on a support , was made in 1720. The organ was built in 1875 by master organ builder August Troch from Neuhaldensleben . It was renewed in 1998 by the master organ builder Jörg Dutschke from Salzwedel-Dambeck . On the west side of the triumphal arch, remains of late Romanesque wall paintings were discovered in 1997, depicting the crucifixion and entombment of Christ . The church has a bronze bell that was cast in Laucha in 1860 after the original peal fell victim to the fire of 1859.
