Architecture and building history

Church in the Leibchel townscape

The Leibcheler village church was built in the 15th century. The building is a hall in the late Gothic style. The building was built as a field stone and later plastered . On the south side the village church has a stepped pointed arch portal . One of the squat windows at the east end of the church building is still original, the remaining windows were replaced later.

In 1786 the church was rebuilt. The square western roof tower made of brick was added. There is a square wooden attachment above the pyramid roof of the tower. In 1979 the building was extensively renovated . The interior of the church has a flat roof, the tower is supported on its sides by two heavy pillars . There is a wooden gallery between the two pillars .

Furnishing

The church has a simple baroque pulpit altar from the 17th century. In the predella of the altar the Lord's Supper is depicted. The baptismal angel dates from the 18th century and is a simple carving that was supplemented and painted over in 1992. This is located next to the altar. Since the renovation he has been holding a flat wooden plate in his hand, previously there was probably a wreath of leaves there. Since its restoration, the baptismal angel can no longer be used.
