The Protestant village church of Lindow is a Gothic stone church in the Lindow part of Groß Miltzow in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It belongs to the parish of Kublank in the Stargard church region in the Neustrelitz provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church) .

History and architecture

The Lindow village church is a flat-roofed hall church made of field stone with a transverse rectangular western building of the same width, which was started towards the end of the 13th century. Inside, it is prepared with shield arches for a vault in two yokes. Simple field stone portals in the west and south open up the structure. The well-proportioned east gable is divided into brick with stepped panels. The timber-framed roof tower from the 18th century was demolished in 1971/72, since then the church has been covered with a continuous gable roof, the old roof structure dendrochronologically dated to 1607. The south side is designed as a viewing side with windows with profiled brick walls and twin panels between the windows. The windows were enlarged in the 19th century and the window tracery was renewed. Support pillars were subsequently added to the west wall.

Furnishing

The main piece of equipment is a finely carved altar from the end of the 15th century, which shows a crescent moon Madonna with angels and symbols of Mary in the shrine , flanked by saints who are supported by small pillars with prophets. The apostles are depicted as figures on the inside of the wings and four painted scenes from the life of Mary on the outside. The predella is painted with images of the wise and foolish virgins ; its middle part can be opened and shows Mary and John the Evangelist on the inside of the wings. The predella shrine shows carved figures of the Man of Sorrows and two angels.

The pulpit and the sound cover were made in 1617 and are decorated with rich carvings and relief depictions of the four evangelists , John the Baptist , Peter and Paul . The basket is carried by Moses and angel caryatids . On the door, Fides and Spes are shown in the painting, the coats of arms of Mecklenburg and Schwerin in the tympanum . The pastor's chair, lectern and west gallery were probably created in the first half of the 17th century. One wall cupboard dates from the 17th century, the door of the sacrament niche from the 16th / 17th century. Century.

The organ is a work by Ernst Sauer from 1859 with four stops on a manual with attached pedal , which was restored by Alexander Schuke Potsdam Orgelbau in 2006. One of the two bells dates from 1402, the other was cast by Roloff Klassen from Stettin in 1611. A silver-gilt chalice was created in 1695, a pair of pewter candlesticks from 1684 received new shafts in 1878. A grave slab was placed for Bahlke († 1793).
