Evangelical Church (Niederwerrn)
The Niederwerrn Church is a village church in Niederwerrn in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . It serves the Lutheran parish Niederwerrn in the Evangelical Lutheran deanery Schweinfurt as a parish church . The building is one of the monuments of Niederwerrn and is registered under the number D-6-78-160-1 in the Bavarian list of monuments .
history
The nave is medieval in its origins. It is no longer known to whom the church was consecrated, which became a Protestant parish church in 1565 or 1566. In 1716 (the year above the side portal) the nave was extended and the tower was rebuilt at the same time .
Description and equipment
The church consists of the nave and the eastern choir tower with a Welscher hood. The rococo-style altar was created in 1756–58 by the sculptor JG Gosohorsky from Sömmersdorf . He is crowned by the crucified Christ with a halo. The pulpit is older, from around 1600. It was painted around 1700, including a depiction of the crucifixion . In the 1970s, a new organ was installed in the old case as part of a comprehensive renovation .
