history

The construction of the Proschim village church began in 1914. Due to the outbreak of the First World War , construction had to be interrupted several times, so that the church was not completed until 1919. It was designed by the architect Arthur Mäkelt. The Proschim village church is a neo-baroque hall building made of brick with a retracted square tower. This has an octagonal top and is closed by a tail hood . The weathercock dates from 1915.

Inside the church there is a barrel vault on wooden supports and a three-sided gallery . On the organ loft there is the inscription “This is a delicious thing, thank you gentlemen u. Sing praises to your name, Most High ”from Psalm 92 . The interior decoration was created by Robert Sandfort . Uniform equipment from the construction period is available.

The organ was built in 1919 or 1928 by the organ builder Gustav Heinze from Sorau . The pulpit altar comes from the construction time.

In front of the village church there is a granite war memorial in memory of the soldiers of Proschim who fell in World War I. After 1945 and 1978 the church underwent extensive restoration work.

Before the village church was built, Proschim was parish in Jessen . The parish of Proschim initially belonged to the Jessen district. From 1922 to 1953 this was part of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union and then the Evangelical Church of the Union . The Proschim district was founded when the Jessen district was dismantled in the 1970s. Until 1998 this belonged to the church district Spremberg, then to the church district Senftenberg-Spremberg . The parish of Proschim has been part of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia since 2003 . On January 1, 2020, the Senftenberg-Spremberg parish was dissolved, and the Proschim parish has been part of the Cottbus parish since then.
