Raila village church
The Protestant village church Raila , also known as the Emmaus chapel , is located in the Raila district of the Saalburg-Ebersdorf community in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
history
After the establishment of a cemetery , the desire for a mourning hall or chapel arose in Raila . The planning for this began in 1954 and was carried out according to a concept by master builder Martin Zieger from Kulm . A celebration hall at the cemetery had been approved by
the authorities in Schleiz . Without a permit, however, a tower was added to the hall in order to meet the request for a real church . This provoked the discontent of the GDR authorities, which temporarily stopped construction. The regional churchwas able to mediate, and at Pentecost 1959 the community celebrated the consecration of their Emmaus chapel with Regional Bishop Mitzenheim . In 1960 the church received its bells.
Furnishing
The then regional bishop Moritz Mitzenheim donated two bells . An organ of Sauer is the right of the altar.
