The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church Stünzhain stands in the position Stünzhain the district Ehrenberg of the city Altenburg in Altenburger Land in Thuringia .

history

The small rectangular church , which was only built in 1585, seems to be older than it really is, because it is reminiscent of a medieval fortified church . The church was rebuilt after a fire. In 1720 and 1853 major alterations were made and the interior was designed in baroque style. The church received a stucco ceiling , galleries , the pulpit , the altar and stalls as well as the patron's box .

The historic organ by Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost from 1736 was rebuilt and repaired in 1750, 1757, 1859, 1895, 1930, 1941 and 1952/1957. Since then, only a small part of the pipework (Gedackt 4 ′, flat flute 2 ′ and fifth 2 23 ′) has belonged to the historical inventory. A restoration was carried out in 2010 with the help of donated 5000 euros in addition to other funds.

The stained glass window is from 1905.
