Village church Wünsdorf

The Protestant village church in Wünsdorf is a hall church in the arched style in Wünsdorf , a district of the town of Zossen in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

Landstrasse 74 runs as Klausdorfer Strasse in a west-east direction as a central connecting axis through the town. To the north, the street Am Kirchplatz spans a small area on which the building stands. This is enclosed with a wall made of unhewn and not layered field stones .

history

The structure was erected between 1841 and 1843. The parish sees in a church guide in the architectural execution similarities with the buildings of Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781–1841).

Building description

Southwest view

The church was essentially made of bricks , which were then plastered . In this way, three apses were created in the east , which have been drawn in. The middle apse extends into the gable of the nave . At the eastern apex of the two outer apses is a small arched window; on the southern one there is also an arched gate.

This is followed by the nave to the west . There is no window in the east except for ox-eye in the gable. The sides of the nave are strictly architecturally structured. On the south side there are five arched windows, the middle one being reduced in size to make room for a gate below. The ship has a simple gable roof .

Finally, in the west is the drawn-in west tower with a square floor plan. It can be entered from the west through an arched gate. Above it is a surrounding cornice that takes up the height of the ship's eaves. To the north and south are two small arched windows each below. In the middle floor there is a tower clock on each of the three visible sides. Another floor follows, each with an arched sound arcade . Above it is a tower attachment that ends with a pointed helmet and tower ball .

Furnishing

The church furnishings come from the same period of construction. This also includes a wooden horseshoe gallery that rests on low, square pillars. There is an organ on the western gallery . The interior of the nave has a wooden beam ceiling and is only open to the central apse. At the transition there is a larger than life crucifix , to the north of which there is a barrel-shaped pulpit on one foot, which is decorated with gold-colored ornaments. In the tower hall, three plaques commemorate the fallen from the First and Second World Wars. In the center is a cross with an inscription from the Revelation of John : "For the great day of his wrath has come and who can stand?" ( Rev 6:17  EU ). Opposite is a painting of the Last Judgment .

In front of the church, a memorial commemorates those who died in the First World War. Another memorial stone in front of the cemetery wall commemorates the dead of the Wars of Liberation .
