Wulkau village church
The village church Wulkau is the Protestant church of the district Wulkau in the municipality of Kamern , located in the northeast of Saxony-Anhalt . The building is mostly neo-Romanesque .
history
The apse and some other areas in the east of the building date from the first half of the 14th century, but were subsequently changed. After a lightning strike and the fire caused by it in 1839, the nave was torn down and rebuilt in 1863–1864 as a neo - Romanesque three-nave hall longhouse .
Architecture and equipment
The central and side aisles are each equipped with a gable roof. The tower, which is square up to the 4th floor, then merges into an octagon and has a tent roof . The ceiling of the nave is flat in the western part and barrel vaulted in the eastern part . The wooden horseshoe gallery from 1865 is supported by two round arches.
The dome of the apse is decorated with a gold mosaic image of Jesus. It was made by an Italian artist. To the left and right of the apse there are paintings by Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon . The stone altar in neo-Romanesque style has a tabernacle and parapets, also made of stone, on the left and right. The font in the same style has a square shape with set corner pillars. The carved pulpit stands on an octagonal column.
The organ, like many others in the region, was built by Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller in 1865.
A door leaf of the sacristy dates from 1655.
