from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doris Fenske (born January 30, 1973 in Burghausen ) is a German journalist . She is the editor of the trimedial (radio, television, Internet) broadcasting program section "Agriculture and Environment" of Bavarian Radio . Since the beginning of 2016, she has occasionally moderated the agricultural and consumer program Unser Land on BR television and has been the presenter of the BR environmental program Weed since February 2018.

Life

Doris Fenske was born in Burghausen and grew up in a family of doctors committed to nature conservation in the Salzach Valley . Her father, the dermatologist Götz Fenske, who previously practiced in Burghausen, was for a long time chairman of the district group of the Bund Naturschutz in Altötting, where he was involved, among other things, in protecting the Aesculapian snake on the banks of the Salzach River. For Doris Fenske, these experiences were groundbreaking for her later professional career:

"To watch an Aesculapian snake up close as a child and to grow up in an area with particularly beautiful and wild nature - that definitely shaped me completely."

education

After graduating from high school in Burghausen, Fenske moved to Paris, where she studied French with a diploma. She then went back to Germany and studied agriculture at the Weihenstephan Science Center for Nutrition, Land Use and Environment at the Technical University of Munich. She completed her studies there in 2010 with a diploma from the "Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning". The topic of her diploma thesis was "Nature conservation in the agricultural landscape through small-scale set-aside and its economic effects".

Professional background

Even during her studies in Weihenstephan, Fenske sat in on television for Bayerischer Rundfunk , where she worked on environmental issues. After completing her studies, she did an internship at the BR in the domestic politics program of Bavarian television. There she wrote articles for the ARD political magazine Report from Munich . As part of her freelance work in Bavarian television, she applied for an apprenticeship at BR and completed a two-year journalistic traineeship, during which she gained experience in various program areas in radio, television and online of the Bavarian radio.

After her traineeship, Fenske stayed at BR and worked there as a freelancer in several editorial offices, with environmental protection and, in particular, animal welfare being her main focus. She works closely with scientists from the university departments of the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan. Another focus of Fenske's are consumer issues, in particular the origin and processing of food. After her traineeship, Fenske mainly worked as a freelancer in the "Agriculture and Environment" department on BR-Hörfunk and at the same time produced articles for the "Weed" and " Unser Land " editorial offices on television, as well as occasionally for science programs on ARD.

Doris Fenske has been a permanent editor in the tri-media BR editorial team "Agriculture and Environment" since 2017, where she has occasionally moderated the program Unser Land since the beginning of 2016, in addition to her work as a writer and editor . Since February 2018, Fenske has presented the environmental program "Weeds", which is broadcast every two weeks with the garden program Querbeet , as a presenter.
