Doris Herrmann

Doris Herrmann (born September 23, 1938 in Görlitz / Silesia) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life

In the spring of 1945, Herrmann and her family fled from Silesia to Upper Franconia. In Upper Franconia she attended school until she graduated from high school. After graduating from high school, she began studying pharmacy in Würzburg . She passed her state examination in 1964 and then began working as an employed pharmacist in Göttingen . In 1982 she quit her professional career due to increased conflicts with the ruling pharmacy. Herrmann has been politically active since 1980, originally due to the expansion of the Göttingen training area and the construction of tank lines in a landscape protection area. Herrmann is a founding member of the citizens' initiative "Save the Göttingen Forest". She was also active in peace work as a member of several peace and environmental associations. Herrmann also works for Amnesty International (ai).

Public offices

Between 1986 and 1989 she was a councilor in the municipality of Gleichen . Furthermore, Herrmann was elected a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament during the twelfth electoral period from June 21, 1990 to October 23, 1991. Between June 21, 1990 and October 23, 1991 she was Vice-President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament.
