The mountain Dorje Lhakpa is located in a mountain range in the Central Himalayas south of the Langtang Khola river valley in the Nepalese administrative zone of Bagmati .

The 6966  m high mountain is located in the east of the Langtang National Park . The eight-thousander Shishapangma is located 18 km north of Dorje Lhakpa.

The first official ascent of Dorje Lhakpa took place on October 18, 1981 by a Nepalese-Japanese expedition (Pemba Tsering, Kazunari Murakami, Eiichi Shingyoji, Kataoka and Makoto Anbe) over the west ridge. Carlos Buhler climbed the mountain solo in 1992. In autumn 1999, the young Frenchman Marco Siffredi descended from the summit on a snowboard.
