Doron Tavori ( Hebrew דורון תבורי; * July 2, 1952 in Haifa ) is an Israeli actor and translator.

Life

Tavori grew up in different cities in Israel. He studied acting in London . In 1974 he returned to Israel, where he was initially an assistant director in Beersheba , but soon came on stage. Omri Nitzan took him to the theater in Haifa, where he played the lead role in Weininger's night . Then he played the SS officer Kittel in the ghetto . In the same year he played Lucky in Waiting for Godot . The play The Jerusalem Syndrome by Yehoshua Sobol became a scandal, whereupon both Sobol, Gedalja Besser and Tavori left the theater. He then played at various theaters until he started running the theater in Haifa in February 2005 . However, he was released after eleven months because his management did not achieve the desired income. He then directed a theater in Jerusalem for two years .

Tavori also played various roles in Germany, such as Shylock and in Austria Gustav Mahler.

Translations

Tavori translated dozens of pieces from German , French and Norwegian . He has received various prizes for translations.
