Dorothea von Sachsen-Lauenburg (born July 9, 1511 in Lauenburg ; † October 7, 1571 in Sonderburg ) was a princess of Saxony-Lauenburg and was queen by marriage from July 4, 1534 (crowned August 12, 1537) to January 1, 1559 from Denmark and Norway .

Life

Dorothea was the eldest daughter of Duke Magnus I of Saxony-Lauenburg (1470–1543) from his marriage to Katharina (1488–1563), daughter of Duke Heinrich I of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

At the age of 14, she married the future King Christian III on October 29, 1525 in Lauenburg . of Denmark and Norway (1503–1559). Her dowry of 15,000 guilders was considered extremely small.
