Dorothee Reingardt

Dorothee Reingardt (* 1949 in Hanover ) is a German opera, lied and concert singer ( soprano ).

Career

After graduating from the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium in Hilden, Dorothee Reingardt graduated from the State University for Music and Theater in Hanover with an opera diploma in 1976 . She completed her studies with the chamber singer Erika Köth . She made her operatic debut as Die Kluge von Carl Orff in Hanover, Aberdeen and London.

Engagements at the Vienna Chamber Opera and the Raimund Theater in Vienna (1976–1978) followed. This included the multiple participation in the summer plays of the chamber opera in the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn .

Joachim Herz discovered her for his production at the Komische Oper Berlin for the female lead in the world premiere of the fairy tale opera "The Funny Musician - The Land Bum-Bum" by Georg Katzer (1978–1980). The opera was also recorded in its own television production by the television of the GDR .

At the Nationaltheater Mannheim she sang the parts of the lyrical subject for several seasons (1979–1982).

Wolfgang Wagner engaged her in 1983 at the Bayreuth Festival for Parsifal in a production by Götz Friederich under the direction of James Levine .

They then performed guest contracts at opera houses and concert halls. A concert activity and participation in festivals with radio and television recordings ensured international attention.

The Israeli composer Joseph Dorfman wrote several works for Dorothee Reingardt, which she premiered together with him, such as the mono-opera “Sulamith” (1997), the cycle “Snajderlider” (1998), the “Book of Ruth” (2001 ) and the monodrama "Sappho on Lesbos" (2004).

Dorothee Reingardt incorporated her experience of the opera stage and subtle song design into programs with extraordinary themes, which range from classical recitals to musical-literary evenings and staged one- or two-person pieces.

In the music department of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, she taught singing for almost 20 years. Today she passes on her diverse experiences from stage and teaching work in vocal coaching and career support.

She is married and has two kids.
