Dorothy Dodson
Dorothy Dodson ( Dorothy Lucille Dodson; born March 28, 1919 in Chicago , † June 24, 2003 in Dunedin , Florida ) was an American javelin thrower , shot putter and discus thrower .
At the Olympic Games in 1948, she was fourth in the javelin throw . In the discus throw she came in 16th place, and in the shot put she was eliminated in qualifying.
From 1939 to 1949 she was US javelin throwing champion eleven times in a row. She won the national title in the shot put three times (1944, 1946, 1947) and once in the discus throw (1946). In 1941, 1945 and 1946 she was US indoor champion in the shot put.
