Dorothy Catherine "DC" Fontana (* 25. March 1939 in Sussex County , New Jersey , † 2. December 2019 ) was a US -American screenwriter , mainly for their incurred in the 1960 film scripts of the series Star Trek was known. She also wrote under the pen name J. Michael Bingham .

Life

Since 1960 Fontana has appeared as a screenwriter primarily for television series. After Spaceship Enterprise , she was also involved in other series and computer games from the Star Trek universe. She was the first ever female screenwriter here. All in all, she has been involved in more than 40 productions as a writer.

She was a scriptwriting teacher at the American Film Institute Conservatory .

In 2001 Fontana was inducted into the Screenwriting Hall of Fame by the American Screenwriters Association. The Writers Guild of America presented her with the Morgan Cox Award in 2002.

Fontana died at the age of 80. She was survived by her husband Dennis Skotak .
