Dorothy Yost
Dorothy Yost (born April 25, 1899 in St. Louis , Missouri , † June 10, 1967 in Monrovia , California ) was an American screenwriter .
Life
Dorothy Yost began working as a film writer in Hollywood in 1920 . Initially, she mainly worked for Fox Film Corporation , where she was primarily involved in silent films with actress Shirley Mason . For Cinderella of the Hills with Barbara La Marr , Yost adapted the novel Little Fiddler of the Ozarks by J. Breckenridge Ellis in 1921 . 1922 followed a collaboration with director John Ford for the film drama Little Miss Smiles , in which Shirley Mason played the leading role. For Rin-Tin-Tin as a lifesaver ( Hills of Kentucky , 1927) of Warner Brothers , Yost wrote the screenplay with Edward Clark.
In the mid-1930s, Yost worked several times for RKO Pictures , where she wrote scripts for the Astaire and Rogers films Tanz mit mir! ( The Gay Divorcee , 1934) and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle (1939). Her work also includes the script for George Stevens ' comedy film Alice Adams (1935) with Katharine Hepburn and Fred MacMurray .
Dorothy Yost was married to Dwight Cummings. Her brother Robert Yost was also a screenwriter. She died in Monrovia , California in 1967 at the age of 68 .
