Douglas Hines

Douglas Hines (born July 20, 1923 , † January 16, 2006 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Douglas Hines was one of the most important editors on American television . Since the early 1960s he has worked for series such as Mister Ed , Mary Tyler Moore , Rhoda , Taxi , Why actually… don't we kill the boss? , Cheers and The Tracey Ullman Show . Between 1975 and 1990 he was nominated for an Emmy eight times . He won it four times (in 1975 and 1977 for Mary Tyler Moore , twice in 1990 for The Tracey Ullman Show and a special on this series). From 1985 to 1987 he was also nominated three times in a row for the American Cinema Editors Award (each for Cheers ).
