Douglas Hodge

Douglas Hodge (born February 25, 1960 in Plymouth , England ) is a British film and stage actor , director and musician .

Life

Douglas Hodge has been an actor in British film and television productions since the late 1980s, parallel to which he is a sought-after theater actor and director.

In 1996 he made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the television film Forest People . A short film followed in 2003 with Victoria Station .

In 2005 he released the music album Cowley Road Songs under the pseudonym Doug Hodge , the songs of which he wrote himself.

In 2010, Hodge received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in the musical La Cage aux Folles .

In 2012 he starred in the BBC series One Night, as well as appearances in the crime miniseries Secret State and the ITV- produced series The Town .

Oliver Hirschbiegel cast him in 2013 in his biographical drama Diana in the role of Paul Burrell . In June 2013 he took on the role of Willy Wonka in the West End musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .

Hodge was in a relationship with actress Tessa Peake-Jones from 1977 to 2012 and the couple have two children.
