Doulsou

Doulsou is a village in the Ayérou rural community in Niger .

Doulsou is located on an island in the Niger River northwest of the center of Ayérou. During the military occupation of the later Niger colony by France in 1899 , Doulsou was the first place where a French military base was set up, along with Sinder and Yatakala . In July 1900, Doulsou became the capital of the district of Doulsou ( cercle de Doulsou ), created in 1899 as the district of Sinder ( cercle de Sinder ), which included the areas of today's departments of Téra and Tillabéri . In 1908 the seat of the district was moved to Tillabéri .

The village had 1,736 people in the 1988 census, 1,026 people in the 2001 census, and 1,264 people in the 2012 census.
