The DR. KADE Pharmaceutical Factory GmbH is a 1886 based pharmaceutical company based in Berlin . It mainly develops, produces and sells products in the areas of gynecology , proctology , pain, gastroenterology as well as vitamin and nutritional supplements.
history
founding
The company was founded in February 1886 by Franz Lutze. At that time, Lutze took over the Berlin Oranien-Apotheke, for which the Charité pharmacist Rudolf Kade had received the personnel license in 1860 . The company name's doctorate goes back to his son Richard Kade. After taking over the pharmacy, Lutze built a pharmaceutical factory. This is considered to be the pioneer of industrially manufactured pharmaceuticals.
First medicines
From the imperial on-board pharmacy of the "Hohenzollern" to the German colonies, the market for the bandages, medicines and surgical equipment of the "court purveyor to His Majesty The Emperor and King" ranged. In 1919, the organization was separated from the Oranien-Apotheke. As a result of the First World War , the DR. KADE company suffered a sharp drop in profits due to inflation and the loss of the colonial export market. Felix Lutze, the son of the company founder, managed to revive the continental and transatlantic business in the twenties and to establish a successful trade relationship with Japan . This led to the business relationship with the Maruho company, which has existed since 1923 and is therefore one of the most permanent German-Japanese connections. A year later, DR. KADE also launched the hemorrhoid drug Posterisan on the basis of its own research, which provides relief from hemorrhoidal complaints with an immunologically effective bacterial culture suspension. The drug laid a lasting foundation for DR. KADE's commitment to drug proctology .
expansion
After the Second World War , the doctor Marietta Lutze-Sackler succeeded her grandmother Frieda Lutze as a personally liable partner. The company remained a partnership until the 1960s. Then it was converted into the current corporate form of a limited liability company. As a result of the expansion, two new pharmaceutical plants were created: 1962 in Konstanz and 1982 in Berlin-Marienfelde. With Arthur Sackler , son of Marietta Lutze, the fourth generation entered the management of the family company in 1975. The international expansion has been taken into account with joint ventures such as DR. KADE / BESINS Pharma (France, 1992) and Kadefarm (Poland, 2006). Further drugs were introduced in cooperation with AWD.pharma . In the 2000s, DR. KADE expanded the area of non-prescription drugs. In 2011 the family company celebrated its 125th anniversary. With DR. KADE AVENDA, DR. KADE has had its own pharmacy sales force since 2013. In the same year the company acquired the OTC segment of the Takeda company with well-known preparations such as Riopan, FAKTU lind, Buer Lecithin and Sanostol . At the beginning of 2017, DR.KADE acquired six phytopharmaceuticals from Hexal . The acquired portfolio includes Femikliman and Silicur. In the same year, the company announced that in future all functions would be bundled at the headquarters in Berlin and the factory in Berlin-Marienfelde (location of all technical areas such as production and quality control) would be expanded for this purpose. The commercial, medical and central areas of the company moved to the Ullsteinhaus at Tempelhof harbor in 2018 . The second production site in Konstanz was closed on April 30, 2019. In January 2019, DR.KADE took over SIRIUS GmbH. With the slightly alkaline skin care products SIRIDERMA, DR. KADE opens up further fields in the market for dermatological OTC products.
Products
The company focuses on prescription-free gynecological antimycotics (such as KadeFungin 3 ) and proctological products as therapeutic agents against hemorrhoids (such as Posterisan akut and FAKTU lind ). The GmbH also offers vitamin preparations from the Sanostol brand and Riopan for heartburn and acid-related stomach problems .
