After various changes of ownership and the gradual expansion of the production facility, it was partially destroyed during bombing raids in 1945 . The factory was rebuilt by 1946. In 1957, the company “Berger & Böhme Dauerbackwarenfabrik BERBÖ” had to take on state participation . In 1972 it was completely nationalized as VEB Rubro . In 1974 this was affiliated to the VEB Elite Dauerbackwaren Dresden .

In 1982 a test laboratory for bakery technology machines was set up. After the system for the continuous production of Russian bread developed by a group of employees around the food technologist Hartmut Quendt (1940-2016) was tested for the first time in 1988 , the VEB Dauerbackwaren was dissolved and wound up as a result of the change . Quendt saved his machine and in 1991 founded the “Dr. Quendt Backwaren GmbH ”to continue the production of Russian bread in Dresden. Quendt drove across the country in a delivery van and sold Russian bread to shops that were still interested in Eastern products at the time. In 1992 he got the name “Dr. Quendt " legally protected , and were in the same year in the retail chains Spar and Allkauf Quendt products listed. In 1994 the production of original Dresden Christmas stollen with a protected geographical indication began. In 1999 the "Herbert Wendler Company" , which went bankrupt in 1996, and with it the production of dominoes, was taken over. In 2000 the capacities at the new location in the Coschütz / Gittersee industrial area were expanded . In 2008 a new building with an expanded factory outlet was opened as a visitor center.

The home-based origin from Saxony is placed in the foreground in marketing and advertising , for example with the name "Dresdner Russisch Brot". The anniversary was celebrated in 2011 with the 20th anniversary of the company and 135 years of the “Dresden Specialty Bakery”. For this, the dominoes were included as an organic product. Since the necessary prices for the high-quality ingredients could not be obtained in retail, their traditional production was discontinued in spring 2010, but with the anniversary from October 2011 as "Dresden Dominoes" according to the original recipe of the inventor Herbert Wendler in organic quality Brought to market.
