Dragons Lair Névé (English for Drachenhöhlenfirnfeld ) is a 40 km² large firn field in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Hays Mountains , it is bordered by Mount Griffith and Mount Pulitzer , the Taylor Ridge and Vaughan Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. In 1987 geologists from Arizona State University set up a camp here as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program and gave it a descriptive name . It is named after the scenery of the surrounding mountains, especially Mount Pulitzer, which is reminiscent of the profile of a kite .
