action

Meinhard Seidenspinner actually wants to say yes to his great love Irmgard Schulze-Knopf, but Irmgard's increasingly bossy behavior keeps him from doing so. In addition, Irmgard's older sister Mathilde has just confessed to being in love with him too. Even his future father-in-law tries to talk him out of the marriage, because he immediately noticed that his daughter only treats her future husband like a servant. Under these conditions, Meinhard Seidenspinner sees himself unable to celebrate the planned hen party. However, everything has already been prepared and Irmgard's mother has already arrived. The bossy old lady surpasses her dominant daughter Irmgard and immediately takes over the command. Her husband can only take it by a long way. So he was only seen for a short time and then disappeared again. The sisters feared one of his dreaded little pranks and were right: Oscar Knopf simply canceled his daughter's wedding at the registry office. To make matters worse, the “Polterbrigade” arrives right now, which was intended to amuse the company for the hen party. Irmgard feels very hurt, but insists on carrying out the planned honeymoon. The next unpleasant surprise awaits in the “Rampenlicht” theater pension, because not only has her sister Olga rented a room here with her new companion, Ewald Schramm, but also her mother traveled after them. It doesn't take long and Irmgard's father appears and tries to explain his motives for canceling the wedding. Allegedly Meinhard Seidenspinner is his illegitimate son and thus a wedding with his half-sister would be illegal. Only Meinhard sees through the wrong game, but is quite happy not to have to marry Oscar's daughter. Meanwhile, Irmgard consoles himself with another guest and Alwine finds out that her Oscar has cheated and cannot be Meinhard's father. When she learns his motives, she supports the decision to have a stepson. The whole thing bursts, however, when Meinhard's mother also arrives at the pension and now everyone learns the truth.
