The three-leaf anemone ( Anemone trifolia ) is a plant from the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).
features
The species is a perennial herbaceous plant , a Geophyt with a whitish "rootstock" ( rhizome ). It reaches a height of 10 to 30 centimeters. In contrast to the more widespread bush anemone , the sections of the stem leaves in the three-leaf anemone are not divided, but are regularly sawn. The three-piece stem leaves are whorled together (as with all wood anemone ( Anemone ), because this is a common feature of the genus). The remaining leaves are basal. Usually only one flower is formed on each stem. Each flower usually has six tepals . In each flower there are many stamens , the anthers are (bluish) white. Flowering time is April and June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.
distribution
The three-leaf anemone flower has its main distribution in the southern Alps and southwest Europe. It occurs in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, the former Yugoslavia and Greece. In Austria it occurs in Lower and Upper Austria , Carinthia , Salzburg and East Tyrol . In Styria, where it was considered extinct, it was rediscovered in Upper Styria. It is not at home in Germany.
Occurrence
The three-leaf anemone grows in noble deciduous forests, also in bushes. It loves chalk and grows in the colline to montane altitude range (up to 1800 m above sea level).
Systematics
One can distinguish between two subspecies:
- Anemone trifolia subsp. trifolia : It occurs in Austria, Hungary, Italy, the former Yugoslavia and Finland.
- Anemone trifolia subsp. albida (Mariz) Ulbr. : It occurs in Portugal, Spain and Italy.
- Anemone trifolia subsp. lancifolia (Pursh) Hiitonen is mostly viewed as a separate species: Anemone lancifolia Pursh . It occurs in North America.
