Dresden Secession 89
The Dresden Secession 89 e. V. was founded in December 1989 by 23 female artists in order to participate together in the social upheaval . The name of the first female artists' association in Dresden's art scene should consciously refer to the two Dresden secessions , without pushing them into a “ feminist corner ”.
history
The history of the founding can be found in an exhibition in the Galerie Mitte in 1987. The room installation “Inside - Outside” by the four artists Eva Anderson , Angela Hampel , Ulrike Rösner and Gudrun Trendafilov did not correspond to the framework of socialist realism and the question of why no man was involved in the exhibition ultimately led to the following 25 Dresden artists and some women from other professions met for talks in the studios in which the role of women was also discussed. After the old control mechanisms of the state were loosened more and more during the fall of the Wall, one of these meetings on December 19, 1989 in the Galerie Mitte led to the founding of the Dresden Secession 89. They wanted to go public as a permanent association and more directly at the Dresden Participate in the art scene.
As one of the first Dresden cultural associations, the Dresden Sezession 89 registered itself in the administrative register in Dresden in March 1990, which resulted in the association becoming a registered association .
The members have been running gallery three on Prießnitzstrasse in Dresden Neustadt since 1996 , the third exhibition space after the demolished Comenius Gallery (1990–1992) and the Northern Gallery (1992–1996).
Between 1994 and 1997, the artists' association organized so-called "water art actions", temporary installations and performances to "examine the social relationship to nature, using water as an example" along the Prießnitz and Kaitzbach rivers . The success of the project called Mnemosyne resulted in the permanent establishment of a “water art path” on the Kaitzbach and the Prießnitz.
