Christine Heitmann (born July 13, 1937 in Dessau ) is a German graphic artist and sculptor and lives in Dresden .

Life

Christine Heitmann grew up in Dessau. After 1945 she moved to Dresden and since then she has lived in the Dresden- Blasewitz district . After school she completed vocational training as a dental technician . In the period from 1962 to 1966, he went on to study sculpture in the evening with Hans Steger at the Dresden University of Fine Arts . Since 1974 she has been working freelance in Dresden and became a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . In 1989 she was a founding member of the Dresden Secession 89 . She also became a member of the Saxon Artists Association and the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK). One of their special features is the art of medals with motifs from Greek myths and ancient themes. Another specialty of the artist are her collages made from various materials. With her collages she offers the viewer a dialogue and defends herself against superficial observation. Her artistic work reflects the longing for harmony and understanding between people. She has been married to Steffen Heitmann (* 1944) since 1965 , and the couple has two grown children. Four years after her husband, she received the Saxon Constitutional Medal in May 2001 .
