Gerda Lepke

Gerda Lepke (born March 23, 1939 in Jena ) is a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Gerda Lepke grew up in Gera . From 1953 to 1957 she attended the Evangelical Proseminar and passed the Abitur there. After training as a nurse and working in nursing in Güstrow , she returned to Gera in 1959. In 1960 she moved to Dresden , worked as a nurse, and in 1962 began evening studies at the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK). From 1966 to 1971 she studied painting at the HfBK with Gerhard Kettner , Herbert Kunze and Jutta Damme . She has been working freelance since 1971. She has been working and living with the artist Max Uhlig since 1973. From 1974 she was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . From 1978 she worked on large-format panel paintings on behalf of Dresden institutions.

In 1989 she was one of the co-founders of the Dresden Secession 89 , of which she is an honorary member today. In 1991 she had a teaching position at the Paderborn Summer Academy. In 1993 she received the first art award from the city of Dresden and in 1996 was a founding member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts .

Gerda Lepke lives in Wurgwitz and Gera.
