Drizzt is captured, Bruenor and the others slowly discover that they were hypnotized by the alleged Regis . For them that is enough of a sign that something is wrong and so they go in search of Drizzt. Artemis Entreri demands revenge from Drizzt, but Drizzt tries to avoid him. The war is coming. Bruenor, the eighth king of Mithril Hall, receives unexpected help from the village of Nesme. The knights from Nesme help him along with his friends, the barbarians, and his own people to defend Mithril Hall. The Harpells also come to Mithril Hall to help and cause a lot of excitement in the process as they are rather clumsy with their high magic. Bruenor has now been able to deal with the painful loss of Wulfgar better, so that he has enough strength to reign as king again. The days of peace are finally over. Cattie-brie has terrible dreams, magic fails, and Drizzt's magical panther Guenhwyvar is doomed to die. Menzoberranzan's army marches to Mithril Hall. The defenders of Mithril Hall are outnumbered, but the provisions put in place to defend them keep their losses small compared to those of the attacking drow. In the end, the drow managed to get to Mithril Hall with heavy losses. Just as they are about to enter Mithril Hall, another army comes to the aid of the dwarves, which stabs the drow in the back. The deep gnomes come on the scene with a very powerful army and help the defenders drive the drow away. At this time, Drizzt and his friends met Matron Baenre, the princess of the highest house in Menzoberranzan, in the lowest mines. The magic of Matron Baenre and her daughters is broken by a “ negative magic ring ” that was created by the demon who was with Baenre so that he could disappear back into the underworld when he was defeated by Drizzt. By the time the ring was made, all the magic in the area disappeared. During this short time, in which her wards no longer work, Matron Baenre is killed by Bruenor. The daughters are then all killed and the Ilithid is seriously injured. The book ends with the victory over the drow and with Cattie-brie and Drizzt embarking on a new, distant adventure alone.

Radio plays

Under the title Drizzt - The Saga of the Dark Elf , a series of radio plays by Günter Merlau on the character of Drizzt Do'Urden was published by the Hamburg radio play label Lausch - Fantastic Radio Play from September 2006 to April 2010 . The radio play series is arranged chronologically according to the plot and not according to the order in which the book was published. Therefore, the series begins with the eponymous series The Saga of the Dark Elf and continues with episodes from the series of the Forgotten Worlds. As in the German novel, the English volumes were also divided into two radio plays.

Episodes 1-6 are based on the "Dark Elf" trilogy, episodes 7-12 are based on the "Icewind Dale" trilogy. With episodes 13 and 14, the setting of the first book of the tetralogy "Legacy of the Drow" followed. The production was stopped after 14 episodes, as the publisher stopped all of its own productions in the field of adult radio plays in 2011 due to a lack of sales.

Each episode comprises a CD with an average length of 60 minutes. The protagonist , Drizzt, is voiced by Tobias Meister , the German dubbing voice of Brad Pitt . Other roles include Elga Schütz , the GZSZ actor Wolfgang Bahro and the theater actor Bernd Hölscher. According to the publisher in 2008, it was the company's top-selling series.
