Dubai Internet City ( Arabic مدينة دبي للإنترنت, DMG Madīnat Dubayy li-l-Intarnit ) is the name of a free trade zone in the emirate of Dubai . The Dubai Internet City is designated as a technology park and has been granted tax privileges by the government of Dubai.

The basic idea is to settle as many innovative companies as possible in one place, which deal with the Internet both technologically and commercially as a trading platform . The initiators focus on the entire South Asian and African region with a population of over two billion people. The government 's initiative brought many software and technology companies to live in Dubai .

The Dubai Internet City is located 25 kilometers south of the city center of Dubai, very close to the Dubai Media City, which was founded according to a similar concept, and east of the Dubai Marina . The private American University in Dubai has also settled in the neighborhood.

history

The Dubai Internet City was officially opened in October 2000 and in 2008 comprises over 850 companies with well over 10,000 employees.

The companies currently located in Dubai Internet City include the local offices of Microsoft , Sun Microsystems , Cisco , HP , Nokia , Siemens , Sybase , AT&T , SAP and IBM .
