criticism

Cinema.de judges: “Obscure flick that is reminiscent of Cold War times. Quite exciting, but also some hangers. "

background

The film was shot on location, u. a. Moscow, Siberia and the Arctic filmed. This appeared to be the first American film made with an authentic Russian-speaking cast after the beginning of glasnost . The shooting was even interrupted by the coup attempt against Gorbachev and the subsequent crumbling government, so that the American occupation and crew had to be evacuated at this point and then flown in again ten days later, with a revised script in their luggage, the new political realities customized. Producer Sneller himself stayed on site to save the set from destruction, otherwise production would not have been able to continue.
