Duncan Huisman (born November 11, 1971 in Doornspijk ) is a Dutch racing driver . He is the younger brother of Patrick Huisman .

Career

In the early 1990s, Duncan Huisman made his first appearances in national racing series. He achieved his first major success there with a third championship place in the Dutch Touring Car Championship in 1994 and the runner-up in the Dutch GT Championship in 1995. In 1996 he had a cockpit in the Porsche Supercup . In 1997 he was finally able to celebrate his first championship title in the Dutch Touring Car Championship. In 1998 Huisman secured the title in the Belgian GT Championship. In the same year, he achieved his first major international success with second place in the GT2 class at the Daytona 24-hour race . After two years with average results, he was again Dutch Touring Car Champion in 2000.

From 2001, Huisman denied the team as a driver Carly Motors , the European Touring Car Championship and completed his first season in the racing series with the second championship course in the Super Production cars from. He also achieved his first victory at the World Touring Car Final in Macau, the so-called Guia Race . In 2002 he secured his third championship title in the Dutch Touring Car Championship. In the European Touring Car Championship he finished ninth in the championship - now competing in the super touring cars. In 2002 and 2003 there were also two more victories in the Guia Race . In the 2003 European Touring Car Championship he reached seventh place and also won the Independents Trophy for the best privateer driver.

After finishing second in 2004, Huisman won the 2005 Nürburgring 24-hour race with Pedro Lamy , Boris Sais and Andy Priaulx in the Schnitzer Motorsport team . He ended the season with his fourth win at the Guia Race in Macau. In 2006 he contested the Swedish Touring Car Championship and reached third place in the drivers' championship. From halfway through the season, he also jumped in for the BMW factory team as a substitute driver for the dismissed Marcel Costa in the World Touring Car Championship , where he achieved two second places as the best results. In 2007 he achieved second place overall at Zakspeed with Tom Coronel , Patrick Simon and Christophe Bouchut in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

Since 2007, Huisman has had individual assignments with various teams in various racing series without a fixed cockpit. In addition to the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, Huisman also competed in the BFGoodrich endurance championship in 2007 and 2008 for Zakspeed and, since 2009, for Scheid Motorsport . He also had individual guest starts in the World Touring Car Championship, the FIA GT Championship and the FIA GT3 European Championship .
