Surroundings
The Dundreich Plateau extends to the south and east as far as Midlothian . The approximately 286 hectare area has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1986 . Regionally rare flowers, mosses and lichens can be found in the raised bog .
Cairns are located on the top of the Dundreich and near the top of Jeffries Corse . Both are listed as Scheduled Monuments due to their historical significance .
The North Esk runs along the eastern flank of the Dundreich , whose source streams arise on the slopes of the Jeffries Corse and the surrounding hills Bowbeat Hill , Blackhope Scar and The Kipps . Four kilometers north of the North Esk is dammed up to the Gladhouse Reservoir . The Portmore Reservoir lies off the northwest flank . The neighboring hills to the northeast and southwest bear the same name ( Hog Hill (Scottish Borders) , Hog Hill (Midlothian) ).
