The Durban Street Circuit was a temporary motorsport racing circuit that was first established in January 2006 for the A1GP racing series in the South African city of Durban .

The street circuit was 800 meters from Durban's city center and 300 meters from the coast and used Snell Parade , Argyle Road , Nmr Avenue and Suncoast Boulevard - today's Battery Beach Road , among others . The 3.28 km long route was driven clockwise and contained 14 curves. The temporarily installed grandstands offered space for 22,000 spectators.

The first race weekend of the A1GP series was attended by over 100,000 spectators. In February 2007 and 2008, the Nations Cup was hosted again, using a slightly shorter version of the route.

After the A1GP series could no longer compete in Durban due to the more powerful new car , a race in the FIA GT1 World Championship was planned for November 2010 . This could not be carried out, however, as a completely new route design was required at short notice due to modifications in the area of the route with regard to the Moses Mabhida Stadium as part of the Soccer World Cup 2010 and due to changed requirements of the FIA .
