The Durreck Group in South Tyrol is an independent mountain range in the Venediger Group . In the north and west it is bounded by the Ahrntal , behind which the peaks of the Zillertal Alps rise, in the south it separates the Reintal from the Rieserferner group . At the Ochsenlenke ( 2623 m ), the sinking of the rock ridge to almost 2600 m and its complete disappearance under undulating rubble soils form the eastern limit of the Durreck group. From the Schneespitze ( 2925 m ) the first peaks and glaciers of the rest of the Venediger group join and connect to the main ridge of the Hohe Tauern , whose orographically westernmost branch is the Durreck group. The Alpine Club division of the Eastern Alps also assigns the mountain range to the Venediger Group.
The Durreck Group is located entirely in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .
