Dwayne John Peel (born August 31, 1981 in Carmarthen ) is a Welsh rugby union player who is used on the position of the scrum half . He is active for the Welsh national team and the Sale Sharks .

Peel made his debut for Wales against Japan in 2001 . With the restructuring of the Welsh clubs and regions, Peel played for the Scarlets . In the same year he was nominated for the squad for the World Cup , where he participated in all games. At the Six Nations 2005 he showed outstanding performance and was an important part of the team that could reach the Grand Slam . Consequently, he was also nominated for the British and Irish Lions national team and was the youngest player in the squad. He was used in all three games.

At the Six Nations 2006 he injured his shoulder badly and was out for the rest of the season. After his return, his position was no longer unchallenged. Since then he has been in competition with Mike Phillips . At the 2007 World Cup he was on the field at every game, but could not prevent the elimination in the preliminary round. At the Six Nations 2008 he was replaced by Phillips. He then moved to the Sale Sharks in England. Due to a lack of match practice at his new club, he was initially not nominated for the Welsh squad for the Six Nations 2009 . After Gareth Cooper was injured, Warren Gatland nominated him . In the run-up to the game against Italy , however, Peel was also injured and was out for the rest of the tournament.
