Dykhausen is a district of the municipality of Sande in the district of Friesland .

location

Dykhausen is located in the west of the municipality of Sande in the immediate vicinity of the Ems-Jade Canal . The rural place extends around a kilometer. It is 3.5 kilometers as the crow flies to the community center of Sande .

history

Since the municipal reform in 1972, Dykhausen has belonged to the municipality of Sande in the district of Friesland. Before that, the place was part of the former municipality of Gödens in the Wittmund district .

Attractions

Village church

The Evangelical Reformed St. Jakobus Church , built around 1200, is located in the center of Dykhausen . The church, which stands on a steep terp , has had a towering west tower with clinker bricks and a transverse gable roof since 1911 . In the church was Heinrich Krechting , former Chancellor of the Münster Rebellion his final resting place.

Gödens Castle

Gödens Castle is located south of Dykhausen . A previous building is documented as early as 1517, but it burned down in 1669. Today's privately owned castle dates back to 1671 and was built as a moated castle by Harro Burchard von Frydag . It is considered to be one of the most beautiful of its construction on the entire East Frisian peninsula .

Dykhausen is located on Kreisstraße 96 and is connected to the B 436 from Friedeburg to the Sande junction of the A 29 .

The Dykhausen sports boat harbor is located directly on the Ems-Jade Canal. It emerged from a former coal loading point and is operated by the WSV Dykhausen water sports club .
