Ableiges is a French commune with 1,161 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department .

The original Celtic place name was "Ab Leg". The residents call themselves Ableigeois or Ableigeoises .

geography

The municipality of Ableiges is located on the Oise tributary Viosne , ten kilometers northwest of the city of Pontoise and 45 kilometers from Paris city center.

In the east, the municipality extends to the Pontoise - Cormeilles-en-Vexin airport .

Neighboring municipalities of Ableiges are Frémécourt in the north, Cormeilles-en-Vexin in the northeast, Montgeroult in the east, Courcelles-sur-Viosne in the southeast, Sagy in the south, Longuesse in the southwest, Vigny in the west and Us in the northwest.

The municipality is part of the Vexin français Regional Nature Park .

history

In 1900, a Merovingian necropolis was discovered in the municipality .

The first written record of the place comes from 1071, when the Archbishop of Rouen , Jean de Bayeux , donated the church to the Abbey of Saint-Denis . For a long time the Maupeou family ruled the village. Their castle from the 14th / 15th centuries Century was demolished in 1886.
