The municipality of Le Bellay-en-Vexin is 45 kilometers northwest of Paris . It is located in the Vexin français Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities of Le Bellay-en-Vexin are Nucourt in the west and north-west, Amblainville in the north, Chars in the east, Moussy in the south-west, Commeny in the south and Cléry-en-Vexin in the south-east.

history

Gallo-Roman finds attest to an early settlement of the place. Etymologically , Bellay is derived from Boeley, Gaulish Betulla 'birch'. It was first mentioned in 829 when the site was donated to the Saint-Denis Abbey . The family Montmorency had in the 16th century, the Dukes of Luynes in the 17th century and then the family de Bellay, the basic rule . In 1666 the place was sold to the Hôtel-Dieu of Paris , which owned it until the French Revolution .
