Cave Church in Haute-Isle

Haute-Isle is a French commune with 278 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region . The residents call themselves Hautillois or Hautilloises .

geography

The municipality of Haute-Isle is located 65 kilometers west of Paris , in the Seine valley and on the plain above the Seine.

Neighboring municipalities of Haute-Isle are Chérence in the north, Villers-en-Arthies in the east, Vétheuil in the southeast, Moisson in the south and La Roche-Guyon in the west and southwest.

The municipality is part of the Vexin français Regional Nature Park .

history

Until the 19th century, the residents of the place lived almost entirely in the dwellings that were located on the limestone slopes of the Seine. The cave church is still a remnant of that time.
