Arthies is a French commune with 278 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region . The residents call themselves Arthésiens .

geography

The place is located about 50 km northwest of Paris. The D 983 ( Gisors - Magny-en-Vexin - Mantes-la-Jolie ) crosses the town. Neighboring municipalities of Arthies are Maudétour-en-Vexin in the north-west, Wy-dit-Joli-Village in the north, Avernes in the east and Aincourt in the south-west.

The municipality is part of the Vexin français Regional Nature Park .

history

The discovery of a villa rustica testifies to the settlement during Roman times . Arthies was first documented in 690 under the name "Artegiæ". Until the end of the Ancien Régime , the place belonged to the rule of La Roche-Guyon .
