Genainville is a French commune with 543 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region . The residents call themselves Genainvillois or Genainvilloises .

The municipality of Genainville is located 50 kilometers northwest of Paris .

Neighboring municipalities of Genainville are Omerville in the north and northwest, Hodent in the north, Charmont in the northeast, Maudétour-en-Vexin in the east and southeast, Villers-en-Arthies in the south and southwest and Chaussy in the west. The municipality is part of the Vexin français Regional Nature Park .

history

Finds from prehistory attest to early settlement. Gallo-Roman ruins, such as B. a nymphaeum and an ancient theater from the 2nd century are remnants of a larger town during the Roman era .

The place was first documented in 849 as the "Genestivilla". In the 12th century a priory was founded, which ruled the place for a long time .
