Vienne-en-Arthies is a French municipality with 416 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Val-d'Oise in the region of Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pontoise and the Canton of Vauréal . The residents call themselves Viennois or Viennoises .
geography
The municipality is located in the heart of the Vexin , one and a half kilometers east of the banks of the Seine and about 50 kilometers northwest of Paris . The municipal area of Vienne is part of the Vexin Français Regional Nature Park .
history
The name of the community comes from the brook Vienna . Arthies means hut (Attegia) in Gaulish and Latin and house (Arthies) in Celtic . The village used to be part of the municipality of Vétheuil . During the French Revolution , the three hamlets of Vétheuil were separated, thus creating the municipality of Vienne-en-Arthies.
