economy
In earlier centuries the inhabitants lived on the produce of their fields and gardens as self-sufficient ; cattle breeding was also carried out on a small scale. Agriculture and retail trade continue to play a major role in the community's economic life. Some houses are designated as holiday homes ( gîtes ).
history
In the Middle Ages, the parish of Frouville belonged to Beaumont , then to Clermont and the diocese of Beauvais , which it remained until the French Revolution .
Attractions
- Of the old Romanesque parish church of Saint-Martin only the bell tower on the south side remains; the remaining components were added in the Gothic style between 1220 and 1240 - the late Gothic south apse was built later (around 1300). Only the eastern parts of the church are vaulted; the nave and the two aisles , on the other hand, have wooden roof trusses , but the side aisles are clad and plastered. The change of supports in the nave and the round windows in the tall nave wall are remarkable and unusual . Church construction has been recognized as a monument historique since 1925 . Some items of equipment (grave slabs, figures, etc.) from the 15th to 19th centuries are separately protected
- The Château de Saint-Cyran , used as a horticultural school, is about 500 m from the village. The 17th century building was completely restored and partially redesigned around 1880; it has been a listed building since 1978.
- A former farm ( ferme ) from the 18th / 19th centuries Century has also been a listed building since 1977.
- The remains of a wash house ( lavoir ) are on the outskirts.
- A Calvaire stands at the northern entrance to the village.
- Messelan
- In the hamlet of Messelan there is also a wash house in the middle of the village.
- The barn ( ferme ) of Messelan , which formerly belonged to a Commanderie of the Knights Templar , still houses a vaulted hall from the 13th century; the other buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building complex has been a listed building since 1980.
