The village often changed its name, as the respective landlord wanted. It was called Moussy-le-Perreux from 1205 to 1524, then Moussy-le-Bergerot or Moussy-Barjot. In the 18th century it was called Moussy-Duquesnoy when Pierre-Louis Casimir Duquesnoy de Vaulouis was Seigneur .
