Dynamic information and information system

The dynamic information system ( DAISY ) of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is a system for dynamic passenger information and provides passengers at the BVG stops with information about the next departures. DAISY was set up for the areas of surface transport ( bus , tram ) and subway .

Working principle

The operations control systems of the subway ( LISI control system ) and surface traffic continuously determine the locations of the vehicles and combine this actual data with the target data according to the timetable. The forecast departure times calculated from this are displayed on the electronic display boards . In addition, the employees of the respective control center can manually generate and display special texts. Currently (as of May 2018) 1522 indicators are installed in the entire network.

The imminent departure of a vehicle is announced by the flashing target text. After the vehicle has left the line will be deleted and another future departure will follow. General information can be shown as scrolling text on the last line of the display. It is also possible to overwrite the entire display with a so-called special text, e.g. B. as information in the event of operational disruptions or construction work.

Subway

All stations on the subway have been equipped with DAISY indicators, currently (as of May 2018) 899 indicators are installed here. Here - depending on the available space - two different sizes are used. The mainly used larger model has a two-line design. At stations with low ceilings such as B. Uhlandstraße , smaller displays were installed, which initially only allowed a single-line display. A software update has also enabled these displays to be operated in two lines since the end of 2016.

Daylight-capable displays were installed on above-ground train stations . On the U1 line, these special displays were replaced by regular models in September 2019.

There are additional transfer indicators for the corresponding lines at the transfer stations.

In the event of operational disruptions , employees in one of the three passenger information control centers should provide the necessary passenger information. DAISY on the subway is supplemented by acoustic information.

Tram and bus

In tram and bus only some of the stops has been appointed. In May 2016, 296 displays were installed at 143 tram stops, 288 displays at 120 bus stops and 19 displays at 14 combined transport stops. These are supplemented by 9 larger information boards. Currently (as of May 2018) there are 331 displays on trams, 282 displays on buses and 10 large displays at transfer hubs.

The displays on the tram mostly show three or six departures, while the displays on the bus show two or five departures at the same time. The four transition indicators are located at the Hellersdorf and Osloer Straße subway stations (2 × each). So-called information boards are located at Tegel and Schönefeld Airports as well as at the Südkreuz S-Bahn station, at the ZOB central bus station , at the Rathaus Steglitz S + U-Bahn station in the Steglitzer Kreisel bus station and at the main train station (2 ×).

Until December 31, 2007 it was possible with Fahrinfo SMS to call up the next departures via SMS on the mobile phone at every stop with the respective stop number. There is currently a QR code on the timetable notice that can be used to call up the actual departure times from the BVG website (bvg.de) using a mobile phone .
