Dynamix was an American development studio for computer games . The company from Eugene (Oregon) operated from 1984 to 2001, since 1990 as a subsidiary of the US publisher Sierra Entertainment . During this period, Dynamix released games in a wide variety of genres .
history
Dynamix was founded in 1984 by Jeff Tunnell and Damon Slye in Eugene , Oregon ( USA ). Initially, games were made for other distributors, including a. Electronic Arts , Activision and Mediagenic developed. In 1990 Sierra On-Line (later Sierra Entertainment) bought Dynamix and subsequently games like A-10 Tank Killer , as well as the award-winning games Red Baron and the "Aces" series with Aces of the Pacific , Aces of the Deep were created and Aces over Europe . In addition to the simulations, adventure , arcade and sports games were created, e.g. B. Heart of China , Rise of the Dragon or The Incredible Machine .
Most recently, the mech simulations EarthSiege , Earthsiege 2 and the first-person shooter of the Tribes series were created for Sierra . In July 2000, the company's founder Jeff Tunnell left the company together with Rick Overmann and Tim Gift to found the new GarageGames developer studio. In August 2001, Dynamix was closed, according to Sierra Entertainment, to consolidate product development and marketing. 97 employees were laid off.
