Eric "EJ" Henderson (* 3. August 1980 in Fort Campbell , Kentucky ) is a retired American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played college football at the University of Maryland and was then selected in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round. For the Vikings he played a total of nine seasons until 2011 in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

college

Henderson played on the University of Maryland college team. He was in both 2001 and 2002 ACC Defensive Player of the Year ( Defender of the Year in the ACC ), 2001 additionally ACC Player of the Year ( player of the year ). He holds the college records for most tackles per game (12.5), most tackles in a season (135 in the 2002 season), and most single tackles per game (8.8).

NFL

The Minnesota Vikings signed EJ Henderson in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft . He completed all games in his rookie season and had a total of 32 tackles. In 2006, Henderson scored his first touchdown after an interception . In the same year he extended his contract for another five years. In 2008, the Vikings also signed his brother, Erin Henderson , from the Maryland college team.

During a game against the Arizona Cardinals in late 2009, Eric Henderson broke his left leg after a failed tackle and was out the rest of the season.
